Xtreme Exeter

The Xtreme program is designed to offer girls extended opportunities to play softball at a higher level than spring recreational leagues, but with a less intense commitment and competition level than other club programs. Xtreme participates in the NH USA Softball B/C League, which is relatively new but growing rapidly. The program started with just two teams in the summer of 2021, but has recently expanded to field five teams for the 2024 summer season: 8U, 10U, two 12U teams, and 14U.  In the 2023-2024 season, the program introduced a fall USA Softball tournament at the 12U level.  This was wildly successful and allowed the players to see what tournament play was like and allowed the coaches to understand where the players needed to develop.

To ensure a competitive experience, tryouts are held to form the teams. Players will encounter a variety of skill levels depending on their opponents. While many Xtreme players opt to participate in a neighboring town’s fun fall softball league, this is not mandatory and incurs additional costs. During the winter, each Xtreme team conducts at least six weeknight indoor sessions from January through early April, depending on indoor facility availability. The winter schedule is typically set by mid-to late fall.  The coaching staff will have the option to look for additional indoor time for their teams with the expectation that these additional practices are optional.  The 2024-2025 season will look to provide the option for a fall tournament in the 10U – 14U levels. Once outdoor fields are available, optional Sunday practices will be held until the completion of the recreational softball season.

The summer season runs from mid-June, after spring recreational softball concludes, through the last weekend of July or the first weekend of August.  During this time the summer schedule will include local weeknight games and/or practices, along with weekend tournaments.  Memorial Day Weekend will be the first eligible tournament weekend for any team whose players are also participating in the recreational season.  The aim is to keep most weekend tournaments local, minimizing travel. However, to find the appropriate level of competition, teams may occasionally travel up to three (3) hours away. When longer travel is necessary, teams may arrange group hotel stays, which adds to the expenses. The level of competition varies, with Xtreme playing both advanced and less competitive teams. Despite the competitive nature, the program emphasizes fun and camaraderie, creating lasting memories and bonds among teammates.

Team rosters typically consist of 11-12 players, but coaches have flexibility based on their preferences, with some opting for an 11-player roster, others for 12, and some even choosing to include an alternate.

We look forward to another exciting season of Xtreme softball, where your daughter will develop her skills, build strong friendships, and enjoy the game.

COMMITMENT

Participation in the Xtreme program requires a strong commitment to the team. If your player is offered a spot, we request that you ensure their availability for most of the summer season. We understand that families may have planned vacations and that occasional absences are expected. However, if your player will be unavailable for more than one week of the six-week season, the Xtreme program may not be the best fit for your schedule. Coaches dedicate significant time to developing schedules and must be confident in their ability to field a team for all scheduled events to deliver the complete season experience that families anticipate.  Each player and family will be required to sign a contract outlining their commitment to the team and the expectations that are required by the Xtreme program.

DIVISIONS

Age Groups for Summer teams ONLY:

  • 8U – tryouts will be held in the spring of 2025

For 10U and up, a player’s age as of August 31 determines the age in which the player is eligible to play the following year.

  • 10U (USA age cut offs) – A player whose 11th birthday is prior to September 1, 2024 is INELIGIBLE.  Must be 10 years old or younger on August 31st, 2024.
  • 12U (USA age cut offs) – A player whose 13th birthday is prior to September 1, 2024 is INELIGIBLE.  Must be 12 years old or younger on August 31st, 2024.
  • 14U (USA age cut offs) – A player whose 15th birthday is prior to September 1, 2024 is INELIGIBLE.  Must be 14 years old or younger on August 31st, 2024.

** PLEASE NOTE ** Players of younger age classification MAY play in older age classifications, but an older age classification player MAY NOT play in the younger age classification.

Requests to participate in a higher age division will be determined by skill level at time of evaluations and number of years played in that previous division.  It is ultimately up to the coaches to determine which players will be on the team.

ESTIMATED REGISTRATION FEES FOR THE 2024-2025 SEASON

This adjustment is necessary to cover several expanded and enhanced offerings that will provide greater value and opportunities for our players.

The increased fees will now encompass the spring recreational program, which has traditionally been billed separately after January 1st. By consolidating these costs, we aim to simplify the registration process and provide a more comprehensive package for our families.  As a travel organization we try to cut costs as much as possible with fundraising, which requires participation from all players and families.

Additionally, the fee increase reflects the costs associated with our participation in a fall tournament, offering our players an extended competitive experience. We have also seen a rise in expenses for indoor space during the winter and field use during the spring and summer, which are critical to maintaining high-quality training and practice environments.

We believe these enhancements will significantly benefit our players, offering them more opportunities for growth and development throughout the year.

TUITION PAYMENTS

Upon accepting an offer to join one of the Xtreme teams, players will receive instructions on how to register via the Sports Engine platform. An initial deposit of $250 is required at the time of registration. All remaining fees must be paid in full by January 15, 2025, to allow for the timely securing and payment for indoor facilities, tournaments, and uniforms.

Please note that once uniforms are ordered in September, no refunds will be issued if a player decides to leave the team. Furthermore, if you are on a payment plan and choose to withdraw, any payments made up to that point will be forfeited. This policy ensures the team can maintain financial stability and provide the best possible experience for all participants.  Additional guidelines can be found in the Xtreme Softball Program contract each family will sign.

SPRING RECREATIONAL SOFTBALL REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

·        In order to maintain compliance with our governing body, Babe Ruth Softball, all players at the 10U & 8U age levels are required to register for and play spring recreational softball.   For 2024-2025 season the 10U recreational softball fee is included with your Xtreme registration costs, and you will be provided a code to register in the spring.

·        At the 12U and 14U age levels, all players are required to register for and pay the spring recreational softball fee. For 2024-2025 season this fee is included with your Xtreme registration costs, and you will be provided a code to register in the spring.  However, because many of these players also play for their middle or high school teams, they are given the option to “opt out” of playing in the recreational season in order to prevent over scheduling and burnout.  This option also maintains compliance with Babe Ruth rules at the 12U and 14U levels.

·        Partner Town Players only: Players from our partner towns will continue to register and play spring recreational softball for their hometowns or for their school team.  They will still need to register with Exeter Junior Softball and a code will be provided during spring registration.

FALL BALL PARTICIPATION

Our teams have the opportunity to participate in the Rochester Girls Softball League (RGSL) fall ball program. This is an eight-week, recreational-style league, with one game scheduled each Saturday (with Sunday as a backup in case of inclement weather).

Participation in fall ball is optional, recognizing that many athletes may also be involved in other fall sports. We encourage players to take advantage of this opportunity if their schedules permit, as it provides additional practice and game experience in a supportive environment.

ANNOUNCEMENT

New for 2024-2025: Advanced and Developmental Teams

We are excited to introduce the 2024-2025 Xtreme Softball Program, featuring two new teams designed to cater to different levels of competitive play. Our goal is to provide opportunities for all players to thrive and enjoy the sport they love.

The program will only be available in age divisions that have sufficient numbers and talent to support these new teams as well as the availability of coaches. We will ensure that each team is composed of players whose abilities and commitment levels align with the goals of the team’s program.

Team Structure

  1. Advanced Team
    1. Level: Competing consistently at a high “C” level
    2. Competitions: Eligible for the Babe Ruth Tournament Trail and USA Open Tournaments.
    3. Objective: To challenge and enhance the skills of players with higher competitive aspirations.
  2. Developmental Team
    1. Level: Competing in “C” level USA tournaments
    2. Competitions: Will focus on the USA tournaments only with a “C” level classification.
    3. Objective: To offer a travel team experience with a lower commitment and competitive level, ideal for players seeking a balance between competition and other summer activities.

These two tiers are being introduced to foster the development of our athletes, allowing them to compete at a level that matches their skills and dedication. The Advanced Team is designed for those aiming to advance their competitive edge, while the Developmental Team provides an excellent option for those looking to enjoy travel league play with a more relaxed commitment.

We look forward to an exciting season and the growth of our players through these new opportunities.  For more information and to register, please visit our website www.SAU16Softball.com (website will be updated shortly with the 2024-2025 information) or contact the Xtreme softball Summer League Coordinator at SAU16Softball@gmail.com.
